HC Directs Hospitals Not To Withheld Patients Hostages For Unpaid Bills

The Delhi High Court has directed that hospitals cannot hold patients "hostage" over unpaid bills and dues. Denouncing the way of withholding custody of patients, a bench of Justices said that, "If the bills are not paid, then the patient can be released and cannot be kept as a hostage. Furthermore, even if dues are outstanding, the patients cannot be withheld to extract money towards unpaid bills". The ruling came after a patient's son approached the court claiming that a hospital was holding his father hostage over outstanding dues of Rs 13.45 lakhs since February. He had also alleged that the hospital was not giving proper treatment to his father. Medical Crisis - An Overview

The concept of Customer and Service provider in the profession of healthcare delivery is new and trending these days. Increased consumerism and materialism has increased the trust gap among various players. Increasing awareness, hostile attitude of society, availability of legal hammer and declining camaraderie among medical practitioners are few visible obstacles raising its bar everyday. What can be done in these unfair and suffocating circumstances usually beyond our control? There can be innumerable ideas on this issue but these are not well comprehended, collated or adopted by many of us. Either we sit back and take the nonsense or we innovate, think out of the box and survive! Many unfortunately think that actually nothing can be done to redeem the situation! Those who do not innovate will perish in consumer centric world !! If people have reduced this noble profession to the level of trade or business based on various variables then it is wise and logical to apply all mark

How is cloud changing IT outsoursing?

One area of confusion concerning Cloud computing is its relationship with outsourcing: ultimately IT service delivery from the Cloud is outsourcing because it is the delivery of shared, multi-tenanted IT services by external parties for the consumption of organisations of all sizes in any geography. However, for those organisations already outsourcing aspects of their IT, the Cloud delivery model raises operational questions about how best to transition to this lower cost capability and which areas offer the most appropriate point from which to begin the migration. And what indeed should the CIO expect from an outsource agreement as this delivery model becomes more mainstream? An area we explored in “ Cloud Computing – A step-change for IT services”, and that is now coming more sharply into focus, is the role of the service integrator.
