NAGPUR: Hope Hospital became the first multi-specialty hospital in city to get the accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH), a government certification agency for quality of services.
Managing director of the hospital Dr B K Murali claimed here on Thursday that the only other hospital in city with NABH accreditation was Evista Eye Care Centre, a single specialty one, with this accreditation. "It is a matter of pride and honour for us to get this accreditation for three years. We will strive hard to maintain the standards and continue to improve services in future. We are planning to expand our hospital from existing 50-bed to 150-bed in near future and include cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery specialties too," said Dr Murali.
The process for obtaining the accreditation started two and half years back when the hospital started a branch in Dhantoli. Finally the certification came after a series of inspections, assessments and verification of data. State-of-the-art computer assisted surgery for joint replacement is the one of the biggest selling points of the hospital.
The hospital also aims to start a branch in all major cities in India. It is also promoting medical tourism. Ruby Ammon, management executive of the hospital, said patient care and safety were the biggest priorities of the hospital. She pointed out that the hospital had already bagged two national awards for innovation in healthcare (in Information and Communication Technology or ICT). The hospital also boasts of its quality in minimizing hospital acquired infections, a major criterion in accreditation process.
Dr Murali claimed Hope was the first hospital in country to use 'cloud computing' which meant that the entire information of all patients of the hospital was put on a public server and could be accessed easily. All the hospital has to do is to pay a rental for using the service.

In such cases, vaccination is an entry requirement for all travellers arriving from countries, including airport transit, where there is a risk of yellow fever transmission. PROTECT your joints now, or pay later.

If you are one of the more than 400,000 people a year who have already had one or more hips or knees replaced — or someone who already has no choice but to consider joining their ranks — we offer our sympathies or encouragement or even congratulations, depending on how you are faring. But this column is for people who are not yet destined to necessarily become part of those statistics. Although the human body has an amazing capacity to repair itself, our joints are surprisingly fragile. When the cartilage that cushions bones wears away, it does not grow back. Thinning cartilage contributes to   osteoarthritis , also known as degenerative   arthritis , a painful and often debilitating condition. Over time, arthritic joints can become so sore and inflamed that they need to be replaced with mechanical substitutes. A result: more pain, at least in the short
